Getting on the Roof

I made measurements of the elements that will have lights this year. While doing this, I realized my roof is WAAAY too steep for me to easily climb. So, had to do some research about how the heck to get lights up there. Discovered that there are hooks that you can purchase that connect to a ladder, hook over the other side of the roof, and then allow you to climb the ladder on the roof! I also purchased some safety equipment to make sure I don’t die…

Just another step along the planning route. Lots more to do!

Crazy Christmas Lights

Way back in December of 2010, I started learning about this amazing way to control Christmas lights and make them “dance” to music.  Ever since seeing videos on youtube, I just knew I had to get involved.

I began researching, reading, and learning as much as I could about this hobby.  Believe me, there is a LOT to learn! Since that time, I have spent some money on a lot of lights, decorations, hardware and software to control them, etc etc.  Everything is starting to trickle in and even though it is July, I feel like I am months behind!

Getting this website going was on my to-do list, so I can now (mostly) cross it off.  Keep your eyes on this site for more information, pictures, and updates of my progress as we get closer and closer to the unveiling of a light show in Logansport!

So far, here’s what my plans are for the display:

  • Over 7000 LED lights.
  • A couple-thousand white mini incandescent lights
  • 2 mega arches
  • 8 3 foot Christmas trees
  • 80 channels to control the lights
  • We will see what else!

I’m hoping to have a 4-5 song show, which will repeat nightly from the day after Thanksgiving until New Years Eve.  My anticipated song choices (most likely will change):

  • Miracle on 34th Street (Overture) – Bruce Broughton
  • Carol of the Bells – Tran Siberian Orchestra
  • Amazing Grace – Yule
  • Wizards of Winter – TSO
  • ….
  • We Wish You a Merry Christmas

So, keep checking back as I keep you informed on what progress (or lack thereof) I am making!
